Welcome to Hues of Blue

Who we are

Hues of Blue is a free communication that provides a bridge of communication between Democratic individuals, elected officials, campaigns and organizations to diverse communities at the state and national level. Hues of Blue is a great way for various Communities to feel more informed about the work of various individuals, elected officials, campaigns and organizations and will continue to provide individuals, elected officials, campaigns and organizations the opportunity to connect directly with diverse voters year round.

What we do

Hues of Blue provides opportunities for the previously mentioned Democratic groups to discuss not only politically related content, but also human interest-related stories to help diverse audiences/communities get to know them on a more personal level. Various opportunities will include E-Newsletter Interviews, Social Media opportunities (e.g. Facebook Live events, Twitter/X Take Overs, etc.), Town Halls and Pod Casts.

Our Founder

Hues of Blue was founded by June Owens. June is a minority female entrepreneur who has previously served in various positions of elected and appointed National and Iowa Democratic Party Leadership. As a member of the Association of State Democratic Committees (ASDC), June has served as an appointed member of the Rules and Bylaws Committee. As part of the Iowa Delegation to the Democratic National Committee (DNC), June was the first person of color to serve as Vice Chair of the Iowa Democratic Party and the first person of color to serve as a DNC Member in the Iowa DNC Delegation in both a two-year term as well as a four-year term.

June is a community activist, multiple award-winning leader, an Emerge alumna and a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

June has served both as a volunteer on several Presidential Campaigns, including as a Fellow in Secretary Clinton’s 2016 Iowa Headquarters, and served as paid-staff on several Congressional Campaigns.

June has served in various capacities to help build coalitions and reach out to diverse communities throughout the United States. With a passion for outreach and voter participation, June has used her skills as an organizer and communication skills as a professional to help raise visibility on important topics and bridge the gap of communication between diverse and non-diverse communities, organizations and individuals.  

Targeted Audience

The targeted audience for Hues of Blue will include, but by no means limited to: African Americans, Latinos, Asian Pacific Islanders, Native Americans, Youth, Progressives, LGBTQ+ and Women at the state and national level throughout the United States. The publication is a free publication/communication to our targeted audience.
